On March 11, 2020, the NBA suspended the season due to a positive COVID-19 test from Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert. Subsequently, the country followed suit and almost all walks of life were postponed, if not halted. This includes the art world, as my biggest show to date was cancelled 8 days after its' opening. My art building shut its doors, our studios closed until further notice. I responded by going back to my roots, setting up stations on my kitchen table and hand-cutting collages with magazines, scissors and exacto knives. What followed was Suspended, a series of analog collages and digital portraits based around basketball to commemorate a season lost. Ewing, a small-scale analog fusion of fashion photography and classic NBA snapshots, specifically Patrick Ewing's infamous signature sneakers, was one of the first works of the series.
