These works in particular focus on the chaos that lingers under displays of pomp and circumstance and how this chaos has affected her identity as a woman. She uses vintage magazines and comic books to create reimagined environments with references to advertisements, art historical allusions, and current politics. Whenever it appears, the feminine form is extracted and repositioned in this new and foreign context. By experimenting with these signifiers, Nicole reinvents the narrative of the past to help women of all backgrounds reclaim their identities and use them as a force towards change.
