ARTIST STATEMENT:
As part of a larger series that follows the many facets of social pressures women face as they age. The work in this series is a visual representation of the comments others have made towards me, the associated feelings and thoughts derived by those comments, and my responses.
"Chunkaas" was a comment my partner would say while I would get ready for a night out. He meant it endearingly, but it just made me feel ugly, like my thighs were too chunky and my skin too pale. Like raw chicken on the dance floor.
